Phoenicia Festival of the Voice

Besides the WCA events this summer, those of you who are looking for fun should know about a super exciting event that will be coming to our town. It is the Phoenicia Festival of the Voice. The dates for that are August 13, 14 and 15. The full schedule is still being set. There will be performances of many kinds of music around town.

For all of you opera lovers, there will be an appearance by world famous soprano Elizabeth Futral and a full performance of Verdi's Flalstaf with singers coming from the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. There will be musical theatre in the STS playhouse with Woodland Valley's own Cardi O'Conner directing a production of 'Closer Than Ever'. Rozz Morehead will be performing gospel music at the Methodist church. Joseph Firecrow will be doing native American music. A descendant of Johann Sebastian Bach, Micheal Bach will be writing a new choral piece for performance in the St Francis de Salles church in Phoenicia. Pianist Justin Kalb will be giving a recital and, for the kids, Uncle Rock will perform in the Empire State Railway Museum. So, as you can see, there is a is something for everyone.

If you would like more information about this event you can view the video at YouTube Phoenicia Festival of the Voice Trailer or go to their website at www.PhoeniciaVoiceFest.com. If you are on Facebook you can also like The Phoenicia Festival of the Voice for current updates.

The festival is also working on raising all the money it will take to stage this incredible event so any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated. The Festival is being funded by contributions, and all of the performers and directors are volunteering their services. They are gratefully accepting tax-deductible donations mailed to The Phoenicia Festival of the Voice, PO Box 327, Phoenicia, NY 12464. Further details about the supporting the Festival are on the website or you can email l.dunne@phoeniciavoicefest.com.

They also need volunteers. The festival can not take place without the support of a dedicated team of volunteers. They are looking for volunteers both in the lead up to the festival to help with fundraising, marketing, and publicity, as well as a large team during the festival weekend to assist with all manner of logistics, including sound, lighting and staging crew, ushering, ticket sales, parking and security.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Cindy Jewett c.jewett@phoeniciavoicefest.com.

So big things are planned for our little town this summer. I would encourage you to support this amazing endeavour in any way you can!!!
