Today is the official start of the 2010 trout season. Too bad the Esopus and the Woodland Creek aren't cooperating. We have had a lot of rain in the last few weeks and the streams are running high and very cloudy. All the waterways have that lovely 'Yoo-Hoo' coloring. The Woodland Creek is running at 6.30 feet at the mouth of the Esopus. The Esopus itself is running just under 8 feet at Coldbrook last time I checked. So the stream and the creek are both well above normal. The good news is with all the rain we didn't have any significant flooding. But the fishermen among us will have to wait for things to settle down before they can cast their lines and begin the season in earnest.
PS - I will try and go out and take a few pictures so check back later.
