Father's Day Rumination From Boreegard

Here is a timely lyrical offering from one of Woodland Valley's poet laureates, Mike O'Neil, aka Boreegard. Happy Father's Day to all.

CARPE DIEM PAPA

(or the Rise and Fall of Boreegard’s Empire)

In Caesar’s time,
Away back then,
The Emperor ruled,
By law or whim.

And just as Julie,
Cracked his whip,
Today I’ll sail,
My imperial ship.

It’s federal law,
Said L.B.J.,
That daddies rule,
On Father’s Day.

I’ll be benign,
Not rant nor rave,
For when Monday dawns,
Once again I’m a slave.
